We understand how much more enjoyable a stay in a new place can be when there’s someone at hand to help you get oriented and to clue you in to the places and activities only a local would know. We offer a free 1 to 2 hour Personalized Orientation of Pierrelatte and the house by our family member, Jim Herbert, who lives in Pierrelatte. He is an American who married a French woman and moved to the Village 8 years ago. Jim will quickly put your language fears at ease. He lives a one minute walk away from the house and will be available for suggestions, questions, or problems and is also available for private touring. He can also create a custom tour based on your interests. Jim will meet and greet you to provide the keys to Rêve de Provence, give you an orientation of the house and all its features, and show you where to find the local bakery, food store and any other places necessary for a wonderful visit.
Our Guided Tours are an ideal way to truly experience the area.
Guides: Jim and Yolaine Herbert
Currently there are three tours available:
Each tour is a one day visit, generally beginning at 9 am when you’ll depart from Pierrelatte, and ending around 6 pm with your return to Pierrelatte. Services include transportation (Jim can accommodate up to 5 adults in his car). Jim and his wife Yolaine will provide guide services. Jim is an American who has lived in Pierrelatte for a number of years, and is fluent in French. His wife is French, and has extensive experience as a guide. They are both well-versed in the rich and colorful history of the region. Yolaine in particular, having lived in the south of France for over 30 years, knows the region intimately, and is an endless source of knowledge about all things French—the cuisine, the wine, the customs, the geography, etc.
The fee is 195 euros/day. Transportation and all road tolls are included, as well as parking costs. Not included are meals and entrance fees to sites and museums. They will be happy to dine with you if you prefer, or not—it’s your decision.
They are generally available on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. If you do decide to book a tour, please let them know in advance.
